South Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan, has been cleared bythe security forces in major operation in 2009, of the Taliban andother armed groups.

On Afghanistan, he reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment tosupporting all efforts aimed at lasting peace and stability inAfghanistan.

The prime minister called for a strong partnership between theUnited States, Afghanistan and Pakistan as a prerequisite forachieving sustainable peace in Afghanistan.
